Bio
My work focuses on the history of philosophy, with an emphasis on Kant, German Idealism and 20th Century Continental philosophy. I am particularly interested in how thinkers in this tradition explain the possibility of knowledge and value. I try to put figures in these traditions in touch with concerns of contemporary philosophers, especially contemporary epistemology and (more recently) ethics and political philosophy.
My forthcoming book, to be published by Cambridge University Press, is titled Hegel on the Authority of Reason: Speculative Cognition and the Analogies. You can read a chapter by chapter breakdown here. And you can read the introduction here.
I currently teach philosophy courses and in a great books program at the University of Houston. In addition, I have started the non-profit Adventures in Thinking, which attempts to make philosophy available to high school students (especially those who are under resourced).
